All-District Honor Ensembles
All Fort Zumwalt South High School band students have the opportunity to audition for two district-wide honor ensembles, Concert Band and Jazz Band, at the end of October. These ensembles are made up of the best musicians in the Saint Louis region. If a student successfully auditions and makes the group, he or she is required to attend three evening rehearsals and a concert in November. See Mr. Ahlemeyer for more information.
All-State Honor Bands
Any Fort Zumwalt South High School band student who successfully auditions for an All-District Honor Ensemble (or is an alternate for an All-District Honor Ensemble) has the opportunity audition for that All-State Honor Ensemble at the beginning of December. These ensembles are made up of the best musicians in the state of Missouri. They will perform in late January as part of the Missouri Music Educators Association's annual In-Service Workshop/Conference in Osage Beach, Missouri.
Audition Materials
Both the All-District Honor Ensembles and the All-State Honor Ensembles use the same audition material. The only difference is that students auditioning for an All-District Honor Ensemble will need to prepare only a portion of the audition materials. These "cuts" will be available in August.
